What does it take to stand up a new freight forwarding operation in the USA? This was a question posed by a forwarder with operations in other countries that wanted to have a presence in this country. I was able to help them identify the requirements and project manage the staff assigned to gather and submit the documents, managing deadlines to ensure everything was submitted on time.
Key tasks included finding the requirements, interpreting them, and identifying the job title of the person who would have the information. The USA team was new to their parent organization and faced the challenge of understanding the content of the documents they needed and the department that would most likely own those documents.
For this freight forwarder it was more cost effective to pay their consultant for these tasks and only engage their legal counsel for more complex interpretations and assistance.
